Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using HRM Battery ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms form a legal agreement between you and Dan Urbánek ("Developer", "we", "us"). They apply to all users of the App.

2. About the App

HRM Battery is an Apple Watch application that connects directly to Bluetooth Low Energy heart-rate chest straps and shows their remaining battery level before a session. There is no companion iPhone app to open first and no account to create.

• Battery level — read from the strap over Bluetooth, where the strap exposes it
• Live heart rate — shown alongside the battery figure to confirm the strap is awake and broadcasting
• Reconnect — the last strap is remembered on the watch for a one-tap reconnect

3. Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App
• You must have a compatible Apple Watch with Bluetooth enabled
• You must have a Bluetooth Low Energy heart-rate strap to connect to
• You must comply with Apple's App Store terms and your local laws

4. Licence

The Developer grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on Apple Watch devices that you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement.

You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, redistribute, or sublicence the App except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

5. No Purchases

The App is free. It contains no in-app purchases, no subscription, no premium tier, and no advertising. Nothing in the App is sold to you, and no payment is taken at any point.

Because there is no purchase, there is nothing to refund. Should the App ever offer a paid feature, purchases would be processed by Apple and refunds would be granted at Apple's discretion in accordance with their refund policy and applicable consumer protection laws, at reportaproblem.apple.com.

6. Battery Readings Come From the Strap

The App reports what a strap broadcasts. It does not measure, estimate, or calculate a battery level of its own. Battery reporting is a property of the strap's firmware, not of the watch or the App, so by using the App you acknowledge that:

• Straps that publish the standard Bluetooth Battery Service report a percentage the App can read; straps that publish nothing show live heart rate and no percentage
• Some manufacturers expose battery through a vendor-specific characteristic instead, which the App reads only once the strap identifies itself as that manufacturer's device
• The accuracy, granularity, and update frequency of the figure are determined by the strap, and a percentage may not fall evenly as the cell discharges
• A missing percentage on a strap that shows live heart rate is that strap's firmware behaviour and not a defect in the App

7. Not a Medical Device

The App displays heart-rate values received over Bluetooth so you can confirm the strap is connected and broadcasting. It is provided for general fitness and convenience only.

• The App is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition
• No value shown in the App should be used to make a medical decision
• The App does not read from or write to Apple Health, and keeps no training history
• Consult a qualified healthcare professional about any question regarding your health, and do not rely on the App in an emergency

8. Bluetooth Permission

The App requests Bluetooth access to find and connect to heart-rate straps. By granting it, you acknowledge that:

• The permission is used only to scan for straps and to read their heart-rate and battery characteristics
• All Bluetooth data is processed on your Apple Watch and is not transmitted anywhere
• The name and Bluetooth identifier of the last strap are stored on the watch for reconnection, and "Forget Device" clears them
• You can revoke the permission at any time in Settings, after which the App cannot connect to a strap

9. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

In summary: we do not collect, store, or transmit personal data. The App has no servers, no analytics, no crash reporting, and requires no internet connection.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

• Fitness for a particular purpose
• Accuracy or availability of any battery or heart-rate figure a strap reports
• Compatibility with any particular strap, manufacturer, or firmware version
• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Compatibility with all Apple Watch models or future watchOS versions

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• A strap running out of battery during a session, whatever the App displayed beforehand
• Incorrect, missing, or stale battery or heart-rate figures reported by a strap
• Failure to connect to, or to stay connected to, any strap
• Loss of the remembered device or of locally stored preferences
• Damages arising from App unavailability, bugs, or discontinuation

The Developer's total liability for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.

12. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the App to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App
• Interfere with the App's intended functionality
• Connect to Bluetooth devices you do not own or are not authorised to use
• Use the App for any commercial purpose without written consent

13. App Updates & Discontinuation

The Developer reserves the right to:

• Release updates that change, add, or remove features at any time
• Require you to update the App to continue using it
• Discontinue the App with reasonable notice where possible
• Modify these Terms at any time — continued use constitutes acceptance

14. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, icons, and other materials in the App are the intellectual property of Dan Urbánek, unless otherwise stated. The "HRM Battery" name and branding are proprietary to the Developer. Strap manufacturer names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility; the App is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.

15. Apple & Third-Party Terms

By using the App, you also agree to Apple's applicable terms and policies:

• Apple Standard End User Licence Agreement (EULA)
• Apple Privacy Policy
• Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions

Apple is not a party to these Terms and bears no responsibility for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance, support, or warranty for the App.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Czech Republic, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Czech Republic.

If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also have rights under the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence, which these Terms do not affect.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via app update release notes. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page reflects when the Terms were last updated.
