1. Overview
Qwertiva is a typing-speed game for iPhone and iPad. A typing app sees everything you type, so the important question is not whether it collects data but where that data goes. This policy answers that directly.
2. What Qwertiva Stores On Your Device
Qwertiva keeps its data in a local JSON file inside an Apple App Group container on your device:
- Your test results: words per minute, accuracy, mode, difficulty, duration and timestamp.
- Your per-key mistake counts, used to build the accuracy heatmap and to bias weak-key drills.
- Your personal bests, which become the ghost you race.
- Your settings: theme, keyboard layout, language, difficulty, punctuation and number toggles.
- Any custom text you paste in to practise with.
- Daily quest, XP and streak state.
The results store is capped at your most recent 500 tests; older entries are dropped as new ones arrive. Deleting the app removes this container and everything in it.
3. Your Keystrokes Never Leave The Device
This deserves its own section because it is the whole point. Qwertiva does not transmit what you type. Not the prompt words, not the characters you pressed, not the mistakes you made, not the text you pasted into custom practice, and not your WPM or accuracy numbers. The analytics contract described in section 5 explicitly forbids all of it.
4. Custom Text And The Coach
Qwertiva lets you paste your own text to practise with, and the built-in coach suggests drills based on the keys and letter pairs you miss most. Both work entirely on your device against the data described in section 2. Your pasted text is stored locally so the app can reuse it, and it is never uploaded, shared or used to train anything. You can delete it in the app.
5. Analytics
Qwertiva uses TelemetryDeck for a small product funnel. The app sends exactly six kinds of signal, all of them limited to fixed low-cardinality categories:
- Onboarding completed.
- A run started, with the mode category, practice-kind category and whether Pro is active.
- A run completed, with the mode, practice-kind and input categories plus a few true/false flags.
- The paywall was shown, with the entry point it was opened from.
- A purchase or restore finished, with the product category and the outcome.
- A review prompt was requested, with a bucketed count of completed runs.
What is deliberately excluded: keystrokes, touches, words, prompt content, seeds, WPM, accuracy, error details, free text, usernames, email addresses and custom user identifiers. The practice kind is a fixed value such as "language practice" or "custom text" — it never contains the language you chose, the text you pasted, or the key you missed.
TelemetryDeck's privacy manifest declares a device identifier and product-interaction data, used for analytics, not linked to your identity, and not used for tracking. Because Qwertiva does not track you across other apps or websites, no App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown.
6. Game Center
Leaderboards and achievements run on Apple's Game Center. If you sign in, your score and the nickname you chose with Apple are submitted to Apple's service, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy rather than this one. Qwertiva never receives your Apple Account details. If you do not sign in, the app works in an offline mode and keeps your results locally; scores queued while offline are submitted when a connection returns.
7. Network Connections
Qwertiva talks to four things and nothing else:
- TelemetryDeck, for the signals in section 5.
- Apple Game Center, when you are signed in.
- Apple StoreKit, for purchases and restores.
- apple.com, as a lightweight timestamp check. The app makes a HEAD request and reads only the server date, so the daily challenge cannot be gamed by changing your device clock. No data about you is sent or stored.
There is no Qwertiva server. The developer operates no backend that receives your data.
8. Purchases
Qwertiva Pro is a one-time purchase, handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. Apple processes payment and tells the app whether an entitlement is active; the developer never sees your card details, billing address or Apple Account.
9. Sharing A Run
You can share a link that challenges someone to type the same words against your run. That link contains the seed, mode, difficulty and the progress curve of the run — no personal details. It is created only when you choose to share, and it goes wherever you send it; the app does not publish it anywhere.
10. Exporting Your Data
You can export your results as JSON or CSV through the standard iOS share sheet. Where the file goes is your choice, and once it leaves the app it is outside the scope of this policy.
11. Children
Qwertiva does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. It has no account system, no messaging, no user-generated content shared with others, and no advertising.
12. Your Controls
- Analytics can be turned off in Settings.
- Game Center is optional; the app is fully playable without signing in.
- Custom text and results can be deleted in the app.
- Deleting the app removes all local data.
13. Changes To This Policy
If the app's data handling changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
