How to play MiniHue
Six colours on a 6×6 board, with 2×3 boxes instead of 3×3. Short enough to finish while the kettle boils.
The rules
- Fill the grid. Fill every cell with one of six colours.
- Rows and columns. Each row and each column contains all six colours exactly once.
- Boxes too. Each 2×3 box contains all six colours exactly once.
- Pencil marks. Toggle pencil mode to note candidate colours; tapping the same colour again clears the cell.
Where to start
The 2×3 box shape is what makes MiniHue different from a shrunken 9×9. Boxes are wider than they are tall, so a colour placed in a row rules out more of the box than you expect.
Work box by box rather than row by row. With only six colours, a box that already holds four of them usually resolves the other two immediately.
