Rules and first moves
How to play Tents and Trees
Give every tree its own tent, keep tents apart and match the edge numbers.
The rules
- One tent per tree. Each tree has exactly one tent directly above, below, left or right of it.
- One tree per tent. A tent sits beside exactly one tree, so a cell touching two trees never holds a tent.
- Tents never touch. Not even diagonally.
- Match the numbers. Each edge number is how many tents its row or column holds.
First moves
- A row or column marked 0 has no tents, so every cell in it is grass. In the app, long-press an empty cell to mark it as grass.
- A tree with one free neighbour has one place for its tent. Pitch it, then mark the eight cells around it as grass.
- Each set of edge numbers adds up to the number of trees. If yours does not, a mistake is on the board.
