How to play Binairo
Two symbols, three rules, and a surprising amount of deduction. Also known as the binary puzzle or Takuzu.
The rules
- Fill the grid. Fill every cell with 0 or 1.
- Balance lines. Each row and column must contain the same number of 0s and 1s.
- Avoid triples. No row or column can contain three identical values in a row.
- No repeated lines. When the grid is full, no two rows may be identical, and no two columns either.
Where to start
The triple rule does most of the early work. Wherever you see two identical values side by side, the cells at both ends are forced to be the opposite value. Wherever two identical values sit with a gap between them, the gap is forced too.
Then count. Once a row already holds half its cells as 1s, every remaining cell in that row is a 0 — no further reasoning needed.
