How to play Tents and Trees
Pair every tree with its own tent, keep the tents apart, and make the edge counts come out right.
The rules
- One tent per tree. Each tree must have exactly one tent adjacent to it — up, down, left or right.
- Match the numbers. Numbers on the edges show exactly how many tents belong in each row and column.
- Tents can't touch. No two tents may touch each other, not even diagonally.
- One tree per tent. The pairing runs both ways: a tent must sit beside exactly one tree, so a cell touching two trees can never hold one.
- Mark the grass. Long-press an empty cell to mark it as grass — a reminder of where no tent can go.
Where to start
Start with the zeros. A row or column marked 0 holds no tents at all, so every cell in it becomes grass, and the trees along it must be served from the other direction.
A tree with only one free neighbour has no choice, so place that tent and immediately mark its eight surrounding cells as grass. That cascade is the heart of the puzzle.
Trees and tents pair up one to one, so the total of the edge numbers always equals the number of trees. If your counts do not add up, the mistake is already on the board.
